From 2021-2023 I was involved in two iterations of a socially engaged artist development programme run out of the Turnpike Gallery in Leigh, called The Making of Us (the second part was called A New Exchange). This was a brilliant opportunity which gave participants lots of CPD opportunities and also paired us up and allowed us to run pilot projects with groups of young people.
For the Making of Us, artist Jamie-Lee Wainman and I led eight socially engaged workshops with neurodiverse young people at Ashcroft School in Cheadle. On the following programme I was paired with artist Hattie Kongaunruan to run sessions with learning disabled young people at Bridge College, Manchester. I feel very lucky to have had such a brilliant opportunity.
