In 2022 I worked with members of the public in Wigan to reflect on their relationship with King Street, the once grand but now neglected area which has been turned into a Historic England ‘heritage action zone’. I invited local people to attend a series of photo walks within the area and to take part in a workshop where they developed captions to sit with their images. Additionally I also sought out people who currently worked on King Street or have done in the past – and I invited them to talk to me about their memories. I put all this material together into a digital booklet which can be viewed here. The visual side was also exhibited in empty shop windows on King Street, with QR codes directing people to this additional content.
