So, today is a very exciting day in my little world, because my first solo attempt at an audio slideshow is up on BBC website. Not only that but it is being flagged up on the main news website, and even made the top five most-read pieces for a short time . Ahh it’s the small things that please…
I am very happy about this for several reasons. Firstly, simply that it’s the BBC – which means my work is being seen by more people than usual, which is a confidence boost in itself. Secondly, it’s the most exciting thing that’s happened to me – in terms of publication, rather than actual experiences – since I picked up a camera properly in December 2007.
Thirdly that I’m being paid for multimedia – something that perceived wisdom says all media outlets expect for free at the moment. But finally it just shows what a good decision I made by getting even a couple of days worth of audio training with duckrabbit last month…something I knew already but it’s nice to be proved right.
Although I’d already randomly found Leah and Peter Findlay and arranged to spend a day with them before my multimedia workshop took place, I would have done a far poorer job of this without the tips I learned on it.
