Over 15 months, in 2024-25, I attended the women’s group at SWAP, an asylum seeker support charity in Wigan.

During this time, women tried different creative activities, went on outings, shared food and talked. Gradually some of this work informed the making of a huge collaborative banner.

The project was commissioned by Open Eye Hub, a partnership between Open Eye Gallery and Wigan Council. A little of this work in progress was exhibited in the Hub space in Leigh in Autumn 2024 (as part of This Must Be The Place, a group show). The banner was displayed at Wigan Museum in 2006, as part of the Wigan’s Voice exhibition).

I shared process updates during the project via my Instagram highlights.
