Britan’s Gypsies and Travellers marry young, and Serone and Luke were no exception when they tied the knot while still in their mid teens. Marriage – and children – are a serious business in their culture, which still fiercely guards its moral traditions, and divorce remains very rare. I have a deep respect for the social values of these communities and creating a more nuanced representation of them is an ongoing project.
