The Booth Centre is a small drop-in centre for homeless people, below Manchester Cathedral. Many users also live with drug or alcohol addiction and/or mental illness. Here, four regulars talk about their experiences: “It’s more than a centre – it’s a family” “I was drinking surgical spirit just to stop the shakes in the morning” “The dead don’t hurt you – the living hurt you” “I’d made myself homeless without thinking it through” “Anything goes when you’re using”
